Petroc Division 1
Ashmoor Women's 1st XI. 2
Kingsbridge & Salcombe 1st XI. 3
ASHMOOR women 1st XI found themselves 2-0 down in the first quarter of the game against the runaway league leaders Kingsbridge & Salcombe 1st XI, but rallied from this early setback to produce an excellent all-round team performance.
Against a more experienced opposition, it was one of Ashmoor's five teenagers, Tilly McEwen who pulled a deserved goal back just after halftime.
Kingsbridge have averaged five goals a match and managed to get one more midway through the second half. However, it was all Ashmoor from then on, with the tireless Sophie Walker pulling it back to 3-2 to make it an exciting last ten minutes.
Ashmoor couldn’t’ find the equaliser despite their best efforts but came away proud for how they had pushed the league leaders.
Ashmoor remain in a solid third place, and this Saturday they host Dawlish.
South Division 2
Bude Men's 1st XI. 2
Ashmoor Men's 2nd XI. 5
With a lot of unavailability, Ashmoor men's 2nd team travelled to Bude with the bare XI. The first half was an even affair, Ashmoor taking the lead through a trademark Charles Walker goal, with the home side drawing level ten minutes before the interval.
After halftime, Phil Hampson restored Ashmoor's lead, but again Bude drew level.
Walker then restored Ashmoor's lead from the penalty spot, and then Hampson got his second of the afternoon to make it 4-2. With a minute to go, Harrold Retallick put the icing on the cake with a final goal for Ashmoor.
The win keeps Ashmoor in third spot in the division, and this weekend they host North Devon 1st XI at Totnes.
In other matches, Ali Wood scored the only goal in Ashmoor men's 3rd team defeat to North Devon 2nds, and Ashmoor 4ths were beaten 6-0 at Okehampton 1st XI.
This weekend the 3rd team travel to play Exeter & Culm Vale Hornets' 2nd XI, whilst the 4th team are away to fellow development side Exeter 4s.
