ASHMOOR Hockey Club are celebrating the double success of two of their young players.
After extensive trials brothers, Ben and Tom Barnett have both been selected for their respective England age group squads.
Older brother Ben was chosen for the England Under 18s, whilst younger brother Tom gained selection for the England Under 16s.
Their first taste of international duty will come on the first weekend of January 2026 when they will head to Lilleshall National Sports Centre for an intensive training camp.
They will then both attend a training camp in February half term, which includes international matches against Ireland. Following these, there will be further selection for the Six Nations Tournament which takes place at the beginning of April.
Both brothers will then attend training camps throughout the summer, leading to an exciting European tour and Tournament in June & July.
Ashmoor has always prided itself on a strong commitment to develop aspiring young players. Current GB & England player Sam Taylor, and Wales Hockey squad member and double-Commonwealth Games athlete Alf Dinnie are testament to that, and the Barnett brothers follow Ashmoor's Theo Bennett who played for England Under 16s last season.
Ashmoor Performance Coach Jack Dinnie reflected, "Needless to say the whole club is very proud of their achievements and looks forward to following their progress in the international arena".
The men’s 1st XI at Ashmoor are currently on winter break with attentions shifting to the Super Sixes Indoor Hockey competitions where they will compete in Division One, against some of the best teams in the country.
This gets underway on the second weekend of January and Ashmoor will be facing the likes of Exeter University, Canterbury and Leeds to name just a few.
