STOKE Gabriel & Torbay Police 1st XI were defeated by just the one goal once more on the weekend.

They welcomed Cornish side Sticker to Broadley Lane for a narrow FA Vase affair.

Just before the hour mark, the visitors found the only goal of the game courtesy of Cam Bidgood, from a corner.

This means that they’ve started the campaign under new manager Connor Marshall with two 1-0 defeats, Ilfracombe Town getting the better of them in the league opener.

What better time for Marshall to put three points on the board than tomorrow night, when he returns to familiar turf.

Stoke visit Newton Abbot Spurs on The Rec, a team whom Marshall managed last year and also, the team who now have former Stoke bosses Matt Hayden and Sam Biscoe at the helm, plus several of their players.

Then, on the weekend, the Bees are back at home and they welcome Ilminster Town, before concluding August with further visits from Teignmouth AFC and Crediton United.
