IN the latest week of Totnes Skittles League action, All Stars took the lead against Outsiders before falling to defeat.
They lost 293-285 and were unable to get back on level terms, Margaret Saxon leading them with 81. All Stars’ top-scorer was Lorraine Edmonds on 79.
Fordetts surpassed 300 on their way to victory over Odd Westons, Leah Sharland’s consistent scoring taking her to 91 and meaning the win was a sure thing.
Odd Westons did have a 46-end with two spares but it wasn’t enough, losing 304-256. Their top scorers, with 66 apiece, were Julie Evans and Angela Worth.
Meanwhile, Diamonds started off well against Alley Cats but the latter pulled away when they ha 14-spares on end three and end nine to win by nine.
Emma Saunders had 72 off Alley Cats’ 275 with Andrea Murch and Sara Neveille one behind on 71. Sonia Edwards had 72 for Diamonds.
In the final ladies game, Caitlyn Knell scored 97 on the way to a victory for Meadowbrooks.
They kept up their winning streak with 10 spares, four of which came via Caitlyn, whose score is the highest this season to date.
Wendy Northway scored 86 to try and keep the Gems in it but it wasn’t enough to prevail, falling to a 326-289 defeat against Meadowbrooks.
Onto the men and Dave Jackson hit triple figures in a win for the Fords, they beat Woodpeckers by 481 to 448.
It came down to the spares with the Fords notching 12 to the five of Woodpeckers, whose highest scorer was Dave Saunders on 85.
Talking of triple figures and 105 of the Bullets’ 475 total was contributed by Simon Prowse as they overcame Wasp.
Wasp started strong but when Simon Prowse scored the only double flopper of the week with an impressive 26, Wasp lost 25 on that end. The end was then in sight when Bullets scored another end over 60 on eighth end.
The scores just keep on getting higher as Chris Jones’ whopping 108 proved to be the difference as his Panthers faced TRFC.
This was a closely fought game between the these two teams but with Chris Jones starting with a 17 and a 15-spare and then in the middle with a 18 and 17. TRFC tried to pull it back with four spares, achieving a 72-end but it wasn't enough and the Panthers won by 8, 434-426.
Wizzards started strong but the Wrecks scored a 63-end and it proceeded to go back-and-forth.
Keith Worth 92 for the Wizzards and Fred Farleigh 90 for the Wrecks, who won 476-466.
Finally, to Offcuts’ 481-450 win over Millers. Steve Robinson 93 for the Millers and Darren Lee 97 for the Offcuts,
Fairly even scoring game between the two teams throughout but with the Offcuts scoring several 60 ends, they pulled away to take the win.
Darren Lee had two high-scoring spares and several nines to achieve the 97 and Steve Robinson had three high-scoring spares to achieve 93.
