STOKE Gabriel & Torbay Police snapped a four-game losing streak as they won on the road in the SW Peninsula League.

The Bees travelled to Crediton United on Saturday, April 11, and came out on top in an eight-goal thriller.

Max Burnham opened the scoring for the hosts at Lords Meadow after 11 minutes and Stoke got back on level terms on the brink of half-time.

Not before the referee went down injured though, Dillon Gascoigne confirming on social media that his season has been unfortunately cut short. He thanked Crediton for looking after him and wished both them and Stoke Gabriel well for the final few games.

As well as scoring just before the break, Stoke also notched just after it, going 2-1 ahead from a counterattack in the 48th minute.

The visitors added goals three and four in fairly quick succession only for Crediton to get one back a couple of minutes after, a Stoke defender scoring at the wrong end.

Steve Goss made it 4-3 with a superb strike from range but Stoke had one more goal in them to ward off any hopes of a complete turnaround.

With three fixtures still to play at the time of writing, Stoke Gabriel TP have a battle on their hands against Newton Abbot Spurs to take fourth place.

Spurs won 3-1 on both Good Friday and Easter Monday but in their latest outing, they were beaten at home by Middlezoy Rovers.

Toby Pullman scored inside the first few minutes for Spurs as they made another fast start but poor finishing then let them down, Middlezoy notching twice in the second-half to return home with all three points.

Stoke host Torridgeside AFC on Wednesday evening (Apr 15) before then welcoming Middlezoy to Broadley Lane on Saturday. Their final outing takes them to Torrington AFC on the following weekend.
