A poet from Totnes has released two poems from her unpublished collection ’The Magic of Love’ in the run up to Valentine’s Day.

Mair Pattersun, a poet, pianist and composer who lives in the town, has been writing poetry since her childhood and can still remember her first ever poem, which she wrote at the age of nine and won a school award for.

Here are the two poems to get you in the mood for the day of love and romance on Wednesday:

Myself, my love

My heart

For whichever moment I am ready to believe

That I am able to receive

My soulmate

To be part of me

Whoever they may be

And so I love you as you are

And try to love myself as well

Although it feels you are so far

Away...I know we both can tell
