The Met Office has issued a weather warning for strong winds in parts of the South Hams.
The yellow warning comes into force at 4am on Friday, October 4, and lasts until 4pm.
Strong winds of 50 to 55mph are expected inland while gusts of 60 to 65mph have been predicted along the coastline.
The warning, issued on Wednesday, said the worst of the weather was expected to hit on Friday morning.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Strong westerly winds are expected to affect parts of south-west England and south Wales on Friday.
"Winds will increase during Friday morning before easing from the west during the afternoon.
"Inland gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible while some coastal locations may see gusts of 60 to 65 mph.
"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.
"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.
"Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible.
"It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray or large waves."
