A South Hams road has finally been repaired months after it was damaged in a huge tractor fire.

Part of the A381 between Bantham Cross and Elston Cross was closed on Tuesday for resurfacing work.

It reopened on Wednesday afternoon following repairs.

The route was damaged on Friday, August 30, and closed for 48 hours following a massive blaze involving a tractor and trailer.

Fire crews from Kingsbridge, Modbury, Plympton, Totnes and Bovey Tracey were called to tackle the flames.

A Devon County Council spokesman said: “The A381 was closed from Bantham Cross to Elston Cross, Churchstow, to patch a section of the road damaged by a tractor fire.”
