On Friday November 13 Soundart Radio will be celebrating 20 years of broadcasting for the Totnes community.

Over the years the station, which began as a student led project at Dartington College of Arts, has welcomed 1000s of local people to the studio, to talk about their lives, play their favourite music and explore their creativity together.

Many local children have taken part in holiday clubs or workshops in schools, some of whom have come back to work at the station years later.

Now the FM community radio station is inviting anyone who has been involved to celebrate together.

There will be an exhibition at the studio from early November, and a weekend of performances and broadcasts of archive material.

On Saturday, November 14, the team are programming a day of 20 minute long performances by people who have a connection to the station or the college, and are calling out for local musicians, poets, and performers of all kinds to get in touch with their ideas.

They would also love to hear from anyone who has photos or recordings from past radio shows that could be added to the extensive archive they have collected.

Soundart was founded as a student radio station by Dartington College of Arts students Lucinda Guy and Helen Harrison.

In 2009 it obtained a community radio broadcasting licence as an arts radio station and can be heard in and around Totnes broadcasting from its studio on the Dartington Estate.

Everybody who feels they can make a radio show or wants to make a radio show is welcome to get in touch and try things out on air.

It is a member of Radia which is a network of community stations from 15 countries around the world.
