Totnes Hospital League of Friends is in desperate need of new blood to stop the fundraising charity from dying out.

The friends are on the hunt for a treasurer and committee members to help keep the organisation afloat.

Other volunteers are also needed to help raise money for the town’s cottage hospital.

Friends member Judy Westacott said: “Most of the long serving committee members have retired or died recently and we want to replace them.

“This is an exciting opportunity for people to join us.

“We provide amenities and services for patients, visitors and staff that are not provided by the NHS.

“The committee raises funds by holding fundraising events and from bequests, donations and sponsorship.

“Examples of some of the items purchased are a fish tank, which is very therapeutic and enjoyed by staff, patients and visitors.

“We have also refurbished the leg ulcer room, funded improvements to the Dart Ward and provided new patient lockers.

“It is very rewarding to see the difference that our money makes.  So don’t miss out, make the most of this opportunity.”

Meetings are held at Totnes Hospital from 5pm to 6pm on the third Wednesday of each month except August.
