Disappointingly and with “great regret” the organisers of the popular Dart Music Festival had no option but to yet again cancel the three-day annual shindig.
For the second year running, the coronavirus pandemic had led to the axing of the yearly May festival.
The festival announced on its website: “Following recent Government announcements, amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic and given current advice and restrictions, the 2021 Dart Music Festival has been cancelled.”
Chairman Robin Foale said: “With great regret and sadness, we must announce that this year’s Dart Music Festival has been cancelled.
“We cannot make plans with any certainty and we are unable to guarantee the safety of our artists, performers, supporters, volunteers, attendees and the wider community, this being our number one priority.
“This has meant that we have had to cancel the festival for the second consecutive year.
“We realise this will come as a huge disappointment, as it does to the army of DMF crew, all of whom are volunteers.”
Robin thanked would-be festival goers for their “incredible continued support” and pledged to be back in 2022 with a “really special” event.
He added: “This is obviously disappointing news, but the only decision we could make in the situation.
“We are hopeful and confident that we will be back in 2022, and will keep you up to date in the meantime.”
The next Dart Music Festival is due to take place on May 6, 7 and 8 2022.
