THE oldest of Dartmouth’s three parish churches was brimming with festive spirit on Saturday when parishioners were invited to revel in some Christmas carol singing at St Petrox Church.
Led by Dartmouth’s director of music, Christopher Helyer, members of the town’s parish choir sang a selection of popular yuletide tunes in the candlelit church.
The annual Gaudete celebration attracted residents and walkers who sang-along and enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies.
There was even a welcoming fire pit at the entrance, enticing passers-by to step inside the historic church, which overlooks the entrance to the River Dart.
Marion Marshall, who helped to organise the event, said: “This annual event brings seasonal spirit to the mouth of the River Dart and was greatly enjoyed by everyone, including a rather special dog called Alfie.
“Dogs are always welcome at St Petrox, as is everyone who visits Dartmouth.”
