Dr Sarah Wollaston’s constituency office staff have said "its news to us!" when asked about rumours that she is not planning to fight the next General Election.
Dr Wollaston’s constituency caseworker and constituency researcher Lucy Mannion suggested that a recent message she sent out for International Women’s Day might be the source of the rumours.
Dr Wollaston tweeted "We need more women at all levels of public life. I was the 303rd woman ever elected to Parliament. If you’d like to apply for my job, contact the wonderful @Women2Win" and Lucy believes that the ’if you would like to apply for my job’ line is the basis of these rumours, but that all Dr Wollaston is doing is encouraging more woman into politics.
As far as anyone knows, Dr Wollaston is intending to fight the next General Election, which is currently scheduled for May 2022, but if 2017 taught us anything, its that elections can pop up at the most surprising times.
