DISABLED man, Able Sharp, has uploaded a heartwarming You Tube video to thank everyone who helped raise thousands of pounds for his life-changing mobility kit.

Able’s new TekRMD motorised device has given him a new lease of life as it allows him to stand on his own to feet.

With his new found freedom and independence Able has been enjoying zooming about in Dartington, where he lives, as well as nearby Totnes.

To show his appreciation to everyone who donated towards the £20,000 state-of-the-art technology which has greatly enriched his lifestyle, Able has uploaded a video showing him meeting friends, cooking in his specially adapted flat, enjoying the countryside with his fiance and shopping in the supermarket and at Totnes Market.

A message from Able and his mum Alex underneath the video reads: “A few months ago we shared Able’s story and our positive intention for him to be mobile and up on his feet in a Tek RMD. Now here he is, absolutely thrilled to be out and about every day, powering around Dartington and Totnes in his Tek RMD!

“I can’t believe how soon and with such good heart we’ve achieved our target. The response has been phenomenal, our local and wider community all coming together with such deep care for Able. Everyone he meets is so delighted and amazed to see him standing proud in his new, life changing mobility kit.

“We hope you’ll enjoy this film where you can really see the enormous contribution you’ve all given to Able’s life, health and independence. We feel so profoundly grateful, it’s beyond words. All we can say, with all our heart, is thank you over and over again.”

The film captures the improved posture and mobility the machine offers, but also the sheer zest for life Able has always shown since surviving a critical illness as a toddler.

Able suffered a severe infection of meningitis and septicemia when he was just 21-months-old, and the resulting brain damage left him with spastic quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, bone deformity and epilepsy.
