South Hams has now gone nine weeks without registering a COVID-19-related death, the latest official figures show.

Latest ONS data also shows that for the first time since mid-March, there have been no deaths recorded across Devon and Cornwall related to coronavirus.

The latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (July 28), relate to the week of July 11 and July 17, but were registered up to July 25, and show no deaths having been recorded anywhere in Devon and Cornwall.

It is the fourth time in five weeks that no deaths have been recorded in Devon, but is the first time that Cornwall has not seen a death registered.

It is the fifth week in a row that across the whole of Devon, there has been no new care home deaths, and the third week in a row in Cornwall.

The figures relate to deaths in which COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate were registered in that time period.

The Isles of Scilly has still yet to see a COVID-19 related death and the South Hams and West Devon have now gone nine weeks without a death, while Mid Devon and North Devon eight weeks and Torridge seven weeks, Torbay six weeks, Exeter and Teignbridge have gone five weeks, and Plymouth and East Devon have gone three weeks. It is the first week were Cornwall has not recorded a death.

Previous weeks have seen 1, 1, 4, 1, 7, 10, 11, 15, 38, 44, 69, 84, 107, 89, 60, 16, and nine deaths registered.
