Bitcoin has come to the South Hams, with the Devon’s first ever Bitcoin ATM being installed in a town centre.

Alphavend, the UK wide Digital Currency ATM operator, has just installed Devon’s first Bitcoin ATM in Kingsbridge Information Centre.

Open six-days-a-week, Kingsbridge residents now have an easy way to buy Bitcoin, and the location in Kingsbridge now also makes it easy for customers in nearby Salcombe, Plymouth, Dartmouth and Totnes to get to a Bitcoin ATM without having to leave the county to find one.

Customers who haven’t experienced buying Bitcoin before, now have the ease of simply downloading a free Bitcoin wallet on their mobile phone from either the App Store or Google Play Store, and purchasing Bitcoin with cash at the terminal.

Alphavend is rolling out more and more machines around the UK in the coming months, as it seeks to keep pace with the growing interest and demand for the most mainstream and trusted of the crypto currencies.

Demand for Bitcoin has never been higher, as the number of people either investing or using Bitcoin as a cost-effective way of sending money around the world, keeps on growing.

Samantha Dennis, director of the Kingsbridge Information Centre, said: “As chairman of the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Chamber of Commerce and a Kingsbridge Town Councillor, I am delighted that Kingsbridge has been able to lead the way for Devon in keeping pace with the fast developing world of crypto-currencies.

“We are really excited to be the location chosen by Alphavend for the first ever Bitcoin ATM in the county, and we are sure it will attract plenty of interest from all over Devon and from our many visitors from further afield.”
