People from all over the South Hams are invited to join in a beach clean/paddle and pick tomorrow as part of a countrywide initiative to “Kik Plastic”.

As world record ocean rower Kiko Matthews cycles 7,200km of British coastline participating in more than 70 beach cleans, Plastic Clever Salcombe is organising another paddle and pick session to coincide with Kiko’s arrival.

Each day, Kiko will be joined by local cyclists and she aims to get as many people from each community involved in the beach cleans as possible.

Working with existing beach clean organisers, such as the Marine Conservation Society, Keep Britain Tidy, RNLI and British Kitesurfing Association, the tour aims to reach as many people as possible, and to expand the growing beach cleaner network around the UK, leaving a lasting legacy in local communities.

Locals are welcome to join Kiko on the cycle into Salcombe/East Portlemouth and anyone is welcome to join in the beach clean/paddle and pick in association with Salcombe Paddleboarding and Port Waterhouse tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14.

The paddle and pick will start at 5pm and go until 8pm at Port Waterhouse, East Portlemouth.

Equipment will be provided but it is advised to bring gloves.
