An eleven-year-old has shaved her head and raised more than £1,000 in memory of her grandfather.
Ella McBeath had her locks shorn off on Friday to raise money for the charity Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Her mum Sophia said: “The total figure she has raised so far is now at about £1,000 and still rising.” Before Ella’s head shave, Sophia told us that her father had died of motor neurone disease and Ella “saw what it did to him”.
She added: “If more children did this sort of thing we would have a future generation who were not so obsessed with themselves and looking at how they can make a difference.
“That is why I am so proud of her because she is looking at other people less fortunate them herself.”
Ella attends primary school in Dartington and had her head shaved at the Amanda Marsden hairdressers in Totnes High Street.
