Two teenagers were arrested after a police officer was assaulted in Dartmouth last Friday.
Several police units and a police dog were deployed to Fairfax Place at around 6pm to search for a person who had left the scene.
Two boys, aged 14 and 15, from the South Hams were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a male police officer, who was treated for bruising at Torbay Hospital.
A police spokesman said: “An officer was assaulted in Dartmouth at around 6pm on Friday 7 January.
“Units including a police dog attended the area to assist in detaining a person who had left the scene.
“Two boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency service worker and have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
“The officer was checked at hospital and sustained minor injuries.”
