A man has died after falling from the Ivybridge viaduct, police have said.

Officers were called to the town at about 8:40pm on Sunday following reports of a man on the train tracks.

“Units attended along with the emergency services and located an unconscious man below a near-by viaduct,” a force spokesman said.

“Despite the efforts of responding police officers, the man died at the scene.”

The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

The man’s next of kin have been informed.
