A police sergeant has issued a warning to motorists after a car hit the central reservation of the A38 in heavy rain.

Sgt Olly Tayler posted a picture of the crashed black Ford Fiesta on Twitter and asked users to be aware "of sudden downpours and #DriveToTheConditions".

It crashed near Wrangaton at around 6.25pm on Sunday, August 11, police said.

The female driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and the road was cleared at 6.55pm.

Sgt Tayler wrote: “Single vehicle collision on the #A38 at Wrangaton northbound blocking lane two.

“Far too many people still travelling too fast for the conditions.

"Either slow down or I’ll see you shortly when it all goes wrong!”
