Thirty years of caring are being celebrated with a thanksgiving service.
The Totnes Caring charity, dedicated to helping the elderly and ill in the town and the surrounding parishes, is celebrating its 30th birthday this year.
It is planning to hold a thanksgiving service at St Mary’s Church, Totnes, on Sunday, June 4, followed by a tea party. Everyone with a connection to the charity, past or present, is invited.
The charity was set up by doctors to provide extra help and support for their patients. It is still providing that support today, in particular assisting the elderly and the sick living in Totnes and district, to remain as independent as possible and able to live in their own homes.
Today the charity has more than 1,600 clients and its services, include transport to medical and health related appointments, lunch clubs five days a week, activity clubs, shopping, befriending, hospital discharge support and a home help service.
A spokesman said: “Totnes Caring is hoping this will be a celebration for the whole town and surrounding areas, and for catering purposes it would be helpful to know numbers before the event.
“If you’d like to attend the service and tea party, telephone Totnes Caring on 01803 865684 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
